Blue Horn — The Story
Born from the Spirit of New Orleans
The Jazz Series began at the New Orleans Jazz Festival — a place where music doesn't just fill the air, it inhabits it. Surrounded by the heat, the rhythm, and the raw energy of live performance, the paintings in this series weren't planned so much as they were felt.
Blue Horn emerged from that experience. A figure mid-breath, instrument raised, caught in the exact moment before sound becomes music. There's tension in that moment — and release. The painting holds both.
As the series grew, something unexpected happened. The figures looked too alive to stay still. Too full of sound to remain silent on canvas. That's when we made the decision to animate selected pieces — to let them do what they were always meant to do: play.
What you're seeing in Blue Horn isn't just a painting. It's a performance, frozen and set free at the same time.
